The Whenua Māori Fund helps Māori landowners and trustees make decisions by supporting on-the-ground initiatives. The fund helps whānau prepare for commercial activities by:
- optimising the use of their land, including the active use of unoccupied and unused land
- improving land use practices
- preparing landowners and trustees for commercial ventures – governance training
- finding pathways to overcome barriers to enhance the productivity of their whenua
- accessing other Government programmes.
